Accessibility

This website has been created with maximum accessibility in mind.

As well as being a legal requirement, accessibility issues are vital to us because of the way in which inclusion of those on the margins of society characterised the ministry of Jesus himself.

Here are some of the accessibility steps we have taken and the options which are available to users on this website. To find out more, contact Jon Harris Web Design, which created this website and its associated video and podcast media. We welcome all user feedback.

Web Accessibility Initiative

Level A conformance icon,
W3C-WAI Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 1.0

This site conforms to Priority 1 aspects of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 1.0, produced by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) as part of its Web Accessibility Initiative.

This website also conforms to the majority of Priority 2 and Priority 3 requirements contained in the same set of guidelines.

Access Keys

You can use a number of different keyboard shortcuts to navigate this website. These are particularly useful for those who do not use a mouse. Press Alt on a PC or Ctrl on a Mac simultaneously with the letter specified below to select the page you are looking for. Then, simply press return to go there.

Most 'access keys' are the initial letter of the name of that page. If you get lost, use A for the list on this page or H to return to the homepage. All keys below work on every page except where specified.

Screen Reader Compatibility

All major visual elements, especially images, have been assigned a text equivalent so that those using screen reader software (such as JAWS) will be able to hear a description of each image. Other users may also see these descriptions if their mouse hovers over an image.

Subtitles & Transcripts

All videos have both layered subtitles and separate transcripts with descriptions where necessary for those with sight or hearing difficulties. There are no strobe effects used in the videos. Podcasts also have separate transcripts.

Browser Windows

Web page hyperlinks on this site do not open a new browser window unless stated. This helps avoid any confusion that may be caused by having multiple windows open unaware.

QuickTime, PDF & Flash Files

Some video and podcast files on this website require or will benefit from the free QuickTime media player from Apple. QuickTimes comes with iTunes to organise your media library. Get QuickTime with iTunes (opens new window).

PDF files on this website require the free reader from Adobe which many computers already have. Get Adobe Reader (opens new window).

Animated Flash files such as the small logo, large logo and booklet features require free player software from Adobe which many computers already have. Get Flash Player (opens new window). There are no strobe effects used in the Flash files.

Day for Life logo

The Day for Life animated logo communicates visually how the centre of the gospel is Jesus, who included everyone who came to him. For an enlarged version, click the logo in the top-right corner of any page.

Site Map

A site map showing the structure of the website and a comprehensive list of sitewide links is available.
